iPHEX-2014 postponed to May 21-23 due to general elections

The Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) has postponed its mega exhibition of Indian pharmaceutical products and technologies 'iPHEX-2014' from April 24 to May 21, 2014 due to the general elections.

“Election Commission, Govt of India has announced the dates for voting of general elections in India. The date for voting in Mumbai is 24th April 2014. For election related purpose, the venue will not available during exhibition dates.  In view of the coinciding of the date of voting with iPHEX-2014 and the next best possible dates of availability of venue, Pharmexcil, with due approval from Management Committee and Ministry of Commerce, Govt of India, has decided to hold the exhibition from 21st May to 23rd May 2014”, said Dr P V Appaji, director general, Pharmexcil.

The Pharmexcil was to hold its three-day mega event iPHEX-2014 from April 24 to 26.

This is the second year that the Pharmexcil is organising this mega event. It organised its maiden iPHEX 2013 event in Mumbai from April 24 to 26, 2013. The even last year was co-located with Pharma Pro&Pack Expo 2013 which was an international exhibition featuring the complete spectrum of the latest pharmaceutical manufacturing technologies.  Pharma Pro&Pack Expo 2013 was an initiative of the Indian Pharma Machinery Manufacturer's Association (IPMMA).

The dual exhibition played a very successful role in bringing together the drugs, pharmaceutical, healthcare and pharma machinery industry all under the same roof to connect and do business.  The event has witnessed the presence of 200 stalls exhibiting Indian pharma, over 5000 business visitors including overseas buyers and 40 senior regulatory from 20 countries like Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Vietnam, Ghana, Tanzania, Senegal, Philippines, Egypt, Nepal, Columbia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Seychelles and more.

The event also highlighted the issues of the Indian manufacturers and how they are constantly struggling to protect the brand India image from allegations by vested interests. One of the key focus areas through this event was to station India as global players by adopting a business model that focused on increasing business on a sustainable basis and take it to the next orbit along with highlighting the growth drivers which includes government support and regulatory framework, cost efficiencies, technical capabilities etc.
